Partnerships

The town of Ústí nad Orlicí maintains partner relations with five European towns.

The developing cooperation with the German town of Amberg reaches its results. The Agreement for Partnership and Cooperation between the two towns was signed on 10th November 2001 in Amberg by Mr Wolfgang Dandorfer, the head mayor of Amberg, and Mr Jiří Čepelka, the mayor of Ústí nad Orlicí. Signing the agreement meant the official confirmation of 10-year-long friendly relations between the inhabitants of both towns. The German side is particularly interested in the exchange of young people in order to achieve mutual understanding of both nations.

The mutual understanding and exchanges of experience are held on the basis of the Partnership Agreement between the town of Ústí nad Orlicí and the Polish town of Bystrzyca Kłodzka, which declares the cooperation and experience exchange of population of both regions as well as of organizations and community groups based on the idea of cross-border cooperation heading for the development of friendly and mutually beneficial contacts between the Czech and Polish people. The Agreement was signed on 8th April 2002 by Mgr. Mieczyslaw Kaminski, the mayor of Bystrzyca Kłodzka, and Mr Jiří Čepelka, the mayor of Ústí nad Orlicí. The latest declaration of cooperation was signed in May and June 2010 by Mr Richard Pešek, the mayor of Ústí nad Orlicí, and Mrs Renata Surma, the mayor of Bystrzyca Kłodzka, and also by vice mayors - Mgr. Luboš Bäuchel and Beata Hucaluk Szpanier.

Mutual partnership contacts with the German town of Neukölln are held primarily in the field of culture, sport and education.

The Partnership Agreement between the Italian town of Massa Martana and Ústí nad Orlicí was solemnly signed on Saturday, 14th May 2005 right in Massa Martana. The Agreement of Partnership and Cooperation between the two towns was signed by the mayor of Massa Martana - Mr Giampiero Gubbiotti - and the mayor of Ústí nad Orlicí - Mr Jiří Čepelka.

The longest-lasting partnership has been held with the Slovakian town of Poprad (since 1950). In addition to the existing exchanges in culture, sport and tourism, the Slovak side showed great interest in the economic cooperation between both towns and regions. The new Agreement of Partnership and Cooperation was signed on 9th January 2001 in Poprad by Ing. Stefan Kubík - the mayor of Poprad town and by Mr Jiří Čepelka - the mayor of Ústí nad Orlicí.
